Summer is in the air and so is the Fête de la Musique!
Known as Music Day in English, the French cultural event will hold 19 free music concerts by seven groups from France along with local bands to 14 Chinese cities from June 14 to 24, according to its organizers, the French embassy in China and Institut Francais.
As one of the main highlights of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-French diplomatic relations and the Franco-Chinese Year of Cultural Tourism, the 16th edition of the Fête de la Musique promises an unforgettable concert tour.
In addition to the event’s traditional stops of Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Wuhan, Shenyang, Shunde, and Ningbo, the 2024 edition will also include the cities of Qinhuangdao, Kunming, Changsha, Guangzhou, Qingdao, Hangzhou, and Hohhot.
The audience in the above 14 cities will be offered a glimpse into France’s vibrant contemporary music scene. They can dance to the pop music of Toukan Toukän and Voyou, get lost in the romantic, dreamy tunes of Kids Return, and rock out to the music of Johnnie Carwash and Simia. They can also embark on an electro-visual journey with Samifati or allow Violet Indigo to take them away, for a moment, to the musical chameleon’s universe.
