The show surveys the eight-decade-long career of Xia, now aged 93, in the world of writing in the traditional way. It gathers over 120 pieces of work to reflect his exploration in the various scripts of Chinese calligraphy and the inspiration from the calligraphic works of ancient artists and classical texts. His works of the unique style of caoli, a script combining the features of lishu, the clerical style, and caoshu, the cursive style, are of repute.
