Rescuers continue to look for people trapped under collapsed buildings on Wednesday in Guangdong and Fujian provinces following heavy rains.

In Meizhou, five firefighters from Meizhou and Foshan were taken by helicopter to Duobao village in Jiaoling county to help rescue five residents who were trapped when a three-story house collapsed at about noon on Wednesday. The victims had not been found by the end of the day, according to a statement released by the Guangdong Fire and Rescue Brigade on Thursday.

Excavation is still underway at the site.

Thirty firefighters have visited Duobao village multiple times by the helicopter in recent days, it said.
