Owners or users of immovable cultural objects should take stronger measures to ensure the safety of cultural relics and enhance the protection on them, according to a draft revision.

The draft amendment to the Law on Protection of Cultural Relics was submitted to the ongoing session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, on Tuesday for second review.

While clarifying that immovable cultural relics need to be timely registered and disclosed if being found, the draft revision also requires government agencies to strengthen monitoring and inspection on immovable cultural relics to realize safety risks as quickly as they can.

It stipulates that efforts should be made to further encourage and support public participation in the protection of cultural relics, calling for exploiting the value of cultural relics for better utilization.

In addition, the country needs to promote talent education on archaeology and cultural relics repair, it added.
