The Vietnamese police recently transferred 19 Chinese allegedly involved in cross-border telecom fraud in Vietnam, along with related items, through the Dongxing Port in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region to China, said the Ministry of Public Security on Wednesday.

The ministry has deployed police from Liaoning province to escort the suspects back and fully engage in investigating the case.

Chinese police identified clues indicating fraud dens in Vietnam engaged in cross-border telecom fraud against Chinese citizens during their operations.

Acting on the information provided by Chinese police, the Vietnamese police mobilized forces and successfully dismantled five telecom fraud dens in Ho Chi Minh City, arresting 19 Chinese suspects and seizing a quantity of tools used in the commission of the crimes, including computers and mobile phones.

With the increasing incidence of cross-border telecom fraud crimes in recent years, the ministry has continuously dispatched working groups to relevant countries to carry out international law enforcement cooperation, promote the dismantling of fraud dens, arrest individuals involved in fraud, and has achieved a series of significant victories.

Chinese and Vietnamese public security ministries have further intensified practical law enforcement cooperation since the 8th joint ministerial meeting between the Chinese and Vietnamese public security ministries held in September 2023, advancing efforts to combat cross-border telecom fraud crimes, said the ministry.
