At his two exhibitions titled A Trio of Notes, held at the National Art Museum of China and the Hidden Art Museum in Beijing, Zhang brings his perspectives on Xinjiang to audiences in the capital city.

Shang Hui, the exhibition's academic supervisor, says the paintings not only present the landscapes and social lives of Xinjiang but more importantly, how the land and its people have kept invigorating the artist's creativity, helping him through the many hardships.
