China launches anti-dumping probe into Canadian rapeseed imports

By Zhong Nan | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2024-09-09 15:25

China has launched an anti-dumping investigation into rapeseed imports from Canada, effective from Monday, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

Preliminary evidence and information obtained by the Ministry of Commerce indicate that Canadian-origin rapeseeds are being sold in China at prices lower than their normal value, suggesting the fact of dumping, the ministry's trade remedy and investigation bureau reported in an online notice.

At the same time, the volume of these imports entering the Chinese market has surged significantly, with prices continuously declining. This has led to price suppression and undercutting of similar domestic products, causing substantial harm to China's domestic industry, said the Commerce Ministry.

This investigation will begin on Monday. It is expected to conclude by September 9, 2025. In special circumstances, it may be extended for an additional six months.
