The fourth Shanghai Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, which involved 84 finalists showcasing their business and innovation plans in areas such as integrated circuits, biomedicine, and artificial intelligence, was held on Thursday.
More than 300 postdoctoral talents signed up for the competition, competing in a total of eight disciplines: new generation information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, new energy, energy conservation and environmental protection, biomedicine and health, modern agriculture and food, as well as culture and finance.
Professionals from investment and financing institutions, industrial parks, and incubators actively participated in the competition to identify talent, provide support, and explore potential cooperation opportunities for the future.
The competition, hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Talent Work and organized by the Minhang district government and East China Normal University, was part of a series of events the city is hosting this month to attract talent from both domestic and international sources.
During the competition event, several institutions and companies, including Shanghai Huawei Technologies, Siemens Healthineers, Shanghai Upper Bio-tech Pharma, and Shanghai East Hospital, announced the establishment of national postdoctoral research work stations.
Currently, there are 178 such work stations within institutions in the municipality, where nearly 2,000 postdoctoral talents have spearheaded innovative projects and research endeavors.
