Multiple food delivery platforms have indicated that food and fresh produce delivery services in the Shanghai area have been temporarily suspended starting from Sunday night due to the impact of the typhoon weather.

The resumption time will be adjusted according to the actual situation of the typhoon Bebinca which is the strongest typhoon to hit Shanghai since 1949.

Shanghai municipal government's official WeChat account also reminded residents last night to show care for delivery workers and to minimize ordering food delivery.

Local media reports have labeled this as the first time Shanghai has suspended food delivery services due to weather conditions. Many netizen have expressed agreement with these measures, emphasizing the importance of the safety of food delivery riders.

The Freshippo app announced on Sunday night that, due to the typhoon, online delivery services suspended to ensure operational safety. The timing of the service resumption will depend on the weather conditions, while its offline stores will remain open as usual.

Similarly, the Dingdong Maicai app, another major fresh food delivery platform, also stated that to ensure operational safety, delivery services would be halted at 10 pm on Sunday, with the resumption time subject to notifications from the meteorological administration office and weather conditions.

Eleme and Meituan also announced adjustments to delivery services based on the actual conditions.

Typhoon Bebinca, the 13th to hit the country this year, made landfall in Shanghai's Pudong at around 7:30 on Monday morning with strong winds and heavy rains.
