A total of 313 Chinese suspects involved in telecom fraud in northern Myanmar have been handed over to China, the Ministry of Public Security announced on Monday.

It was the newest achievement from international law enforcement cooperation between Chinese and Myanmar police after the two sides decided to launch joint and regular crackdowns against the crime, according to the ministry.

It revealed that 870 suspects — 313 from China and 557 from Myanmar, were captured during the latest crackdown, adding that 45 of the Chinese suspects were at large.

Now, all the Chinese suspects, as well as evidence and items related to the case, have been handed over to the Chinese police through the Ruili border port in Yunnan province, and the ministry has arranged local public security organs to bring the suspects back for further investigation, it said.

"The law enforcement cooperation will be continuously deepened between the two countries, so as to root out the telecom fraud involving Chinese people in Myanmar," the ministry said.

Early this month, 111 Chinese people suspected of telecom fraud in the fourth special zone of Shan State, northern Myanmar, had already been handed over to China.

Data released by the ministry showed that since last year, through effective law enforcement cooperation and a series of crackdown actions, Myanmar law enforcement agencies have handed over more than 50,000 Chinese suspects involved in fraud to China.
