DAMASCUS -- Syria's air defenses intercepted several drone attacks in the countryside of the capital Damascus on Thursday, state TV reported.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitor, reported that the drones were Israeli and confirmed that Syrian air defenses successfully prevented them from striking their targets, adding the attacks resulted in no casualties.
The drones were reportedly targeting military sites in northwestern rural Damascus, near Al-Shira' airport and the Dimas military housing area.
Earlier in the day, Israeli warplanes struck the Janta crossing, which connects the countryside of Damascus to the Lebanese city of Hermel. The strikes caused significant disruption, but no immediate reports of casualties have been released.
