According to the national railway operator China State Railway Group, China's railway sector handled 177 million passenger trips during the 10-day National Day holiday travel rush, which ended on Tuesday.

The railway travel rush, which began on Sept 29 and ended on Tuesday, handled averaging approximately 17.74 million traveler trips per day.

Notably, the peak day was Oct 1, when a record-breaking 21.45 million passenger trips were transported, marking the highest single-day passenger volume in history.

Alongside passenger transport, freight services also experienced significant growth, with a total of 115 million metric tons of goods shipped during the holiday period. Sept 30 set a new milestone for freight as well, with 11.72 million tons transported in just one day.

Throughout this bustling travel period, the national railway maintained a safe and orderly operation, ensuring that both passengers and goods were efficiently transported across the country, the company said.
