China aims to drive trilateral cooperation with Russia, Mongolia

China is willing to work with Russia and Mongolia to further enhance mutual trust and drive trilateral cooperation to go deeper and to better benefit the people of the three countries, Premier Li Qiang said.

On Wednesday, Li held the China-Russia-Mongolia trilateral prime ministers' meeting together with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Mongolian Prime Minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad.

With the two neighbors, China is willing to focus on the implementation of the medium-term roadmap for trilateral cooperation, strengthen the synergy of their development strategies, and deepen policy communication and coordination, Li said.

The aim is to "drive the trilateral cooperation to be more in-depth, more sustainable and more effective, and to create a role model of friendly exchanges among neighboring countries for mutual benefit and win-win situation", he said.

China is willing to focus on key cooperation within the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, deepen multilateral collaboration in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other platforms, share development opportunities and fruits, and safeguard common interests, he added.

Mishustin and Oyun-Erdene said that under the strategic leadership of the three heads of state, trilateral cooperation among China, Russia and Mongolia has been carried out steadily, and exchanges and dialogues in various fields have expanded and deepened.

This meets the common needs of the three countries as well as the need for the stability and development of the region, having a bright future, they said.

During the talks, the Russian and Mongolian sides expressed their willingness to join hands with China to strengthen the synergy among the Eurasian Economic Union, the Steppe Road program and the Belt and Road Initiative.

The two countries said they are willing to accelerate the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor in accordance with the key directions set out in the medium-term roadmap for trilateral cooperation, and to cooperate closer in areas such as transportation, energy and culture.
