Zhong Ziran, former head of the China Geological Survey, has been indicted for suspected bribe-taking and intentional leakage of State secrets, the Supreme People's Procuratorate announced on Friday.

Zhong was accused of using his positions to seek profits for others and then accepting huge amounts of bribes in return, and also found to have intentionally disclosed State secrets, according to a statement posted by the procuratorate on its website.

He should be held criminally liable for bribery and intentionally leaking State secrets, it said.

Following the conclusion of an investigation by the National Commission of Supervision and designated by the procuratorate, prosecutors in Ningbo, Zhejiang province, recently filed a lawsuit against Zhong with the Ningbo Intermediate People's Court, it added.
