Daily parcel deliveries in China hits record high

China's courier sector collected 729 million parcels on October 22, an increase of 74 percent year-on-year, setting a new record for business delivery volume on a single day, according to the State Post Bureau.

The launch of the Singles Day online shopping event officially marks the peak season for express delivery business.

Data also shows that from October 21 to 23, the courier sector collected about 1.92 billion parcels, an increase of 48.7 percent year-on-year; and delivered about 1.66 billion parcels, up 29.5 percent year-on-year.

Over the past 10 years, China's daily express handling volume peak has grown rapidly, from about 103 million units per day in 2014 to 729 million parcels this year.
