The brave individuals Wang Yu and Huang Shutao in Beijing received regard and honor on Thursday afternoon after they fearlessly stepped forward in a moment of crisis on Monday, disregarding personal safety.

The government leaders from Beijing's Haidian district, where the incident happened, visited the two citizens and expressed profound respect and sincere greetings for their courageous actions.

The incident unfolded on Monday afternoon at the intersection of Wanquanzhuang Road and Wanliuzhong Road in Haidian, where a knife attack occurred.

A man identified as Tang, aged 50, stabbed five individuals, including three children, near the mentioned intersection. Wang and Huang intervened to protect the lives and property of others.

The suspect was swiftly subdued at the scene by authorities, as reported by the district's public security department. Investigations into the motive behind the attack are still ongoing.

Wang, a 53-year-old native of Beijing and a baseball coach, stood alongside Huang, a 43-year-old from Jilin province, who became a "new Beijinger" after graduating from university in 2009.

Following their act of heroism, the Haidian District Civil Affairs Bureau, in accordance with the "Beijing Municipal Regulations on the Reward and Protection of Good Samaritans" and its measures, officially recognized Wang and Huang's selfless deeds as acts of bravery.
