Dai Daojin, a former senior political adviser of Central China's Hunan province, has been indicted on allegations of accepting bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate announced on Friday.

Dai, the former vice-chairman of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was accused of using his various positions in Hunan, including mayor of Chenzhou and vice-governor, to seek profits for others and accepting huge amounts of bribes in return, according to a statement posted by the SPP on its website.

After Dai left office, he continued taking advantage of his previous work influence to accept bribes, the statement said, adding that he should be held criminally liable for bribery.

Following the conclusion of an investigation by the National Commission of Supervision and designated by the SPP, prosecutors from Zhuhai, Guangdong province, filed a lawsuit against Dai at the Zhuhai Intermediate People's Court, it said.
