The country's first home-developed regional passenger jet, the ARJ21, has added a new branding name C909, Shanghai-based Commercial Aircraft Corp of China said on Tuesday during the 15th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, also known as the Zhuhai Airshow, in Zhuhai, Guangdong province.
A total of 150 C909 jets have been delivered to different carriers since its commercial launch in 2016 and safely carried over 17 million passenger trips. The aircraft manufacturer COMAC said it has continued to enhance the performance, crew operation experience, and cabin comfort of the C909 aircraft.
The C909 jet has good takeoff and landing performance and crosswind resistance for short and narrow runways, as well as for high-altitude, high-temperature and plateau airports. It also has strong adaptability to the operating environment in China's border areas, Southeast Asia, Africa and other overseas regions.
Besides, the aircraft model can use sustainable aviation fuel with a maximum blending ratio of 50 percent for commercial flights, meeting diverse demand of carriers, COMAC said.
Domestically developed aircraft has entered the stage of industrialization, and more jets are being put into commercial operation. Unifying aircraft product names will help further enhance product recognition and brand influence, COMAC said.
