China's express delivery services reached a new milestone on Monday, Nov 11, processing a total of 701 million packages, according to the State Post Bureau of China on Tuesday.
The volume marked a historic high for the country's logistics sector on "Double 11," the annual online shopping festival that has grown to become one of the largest e-commerce events in the world since its inception in 2009.
This record-breaking figure represents a 9.7 percent year-on-year increase and is 151 percent of the daily average volume, reflecting the sustained growth of the logistics industry, particularly during the peak shopping period. The surge in delivery demand is part of an ongoing trend that began with the start of the peak season on Oct 21.
From Oct 21 to Nov 11, the national express delivery sector handled a staggering 12.78 billion packages, averaging 580 million parcels per day — 125 percent of the usual daily workload.
On Oct 22, the industry also set a new single-day record with 729 million packages processed, highlighting the expanding scale of China's express delivery market and its crucial role in supporting the country's broader economic recovery.
The impressive figures underscore how the booming e-commerce sector, driven by the "Double 11" shopping event, continues to fuel both domestic consumption and economic growth in China.
