By LUO WANGSHU | chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2024-11-14 15:33

China's railway network handled a recording-breaking 3.71 billion passenger trips from January to October, marking a 13 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to the national railway operator China State Railway Group on Thursday.

New high-speed rail lines have boosted capacity, allowing for better distribution of passenger traffic. The network also saw the integration of more regional trains and new routes optimizing service in high-demand areas.

During the period, the average daily number of trains rose by 9.3 percent from last year, with 10,555 passenger trains now operating daily on average across the country.

This achievement not only highlights the growing capacity but also the efficiency of China's rail system.
