At the exhibition preview on Friday, the artist himself gave a tour of the guests and media to navigate the paintings on show, as well as his career that spanned several decades.

Drawn from dozens of collectors in Europe, the United States and Asia, the works unfold Tuymans' painterly world.

Underlying the signature blurring, camouflaged style he is famous for, is a reflective attitude toward history and human civilization.
