Forum in Guizhou highlights China's development role

More than 200 representatives of political parties, think tanks, businesses and media from 50 countries attending a forum in Guizhou province discussed ways that China can deepen reform and opening-up to create synergy for global development.
Participants in the China in Sight Global Insight Forum 2024, which opened on Tuesday in Guiyang, included representatives from Pakistan, Malaysia, Singapore, Egypt, Nigeria, Brazil, Peru, Russia, Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, Italy, the United States and Australia.
Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said in his opening speech that reform and opening-up have profoundly transformed China and affected the world.
Today, China strives to offer new opportunities for global development, having made magnificent achievements toward modernization. China will expand market access to turn its vast domestic market into a great opportunity for the world, Liu said, promoting open cooperation to boost trade and investment, actively safeguard world peace for a favorable development environment and enhance exchanges and mutual learning to contribute wisdom as the world modernizes.
At the plenary session, which focused on China's development and changes from a global perspective, Macro Pondrelli, director of Marx 21 of Italy highlighted China's significant contributions in the world's current trend of multipolarity. For Italy, the Belt and Road Initiative represents a crucial opportunity to promote national industrial and economic development, Pondrelli said.
From the perspective of youth, Kariw, a Kenyan student at Beijing Jiaotong University, said that young people, being the main driver of the world's future development, need to acquire capabilities, technology and knowledge by using their academic majors.
Guizhou, an inland province, has achieved development milestones through reform and opening-up, said Xu Lin, secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Party Committee. Moving forward, it will strive to promote deep-seated reforms, high-level opening up and high-quality development, contributing to the creation of a community with a shared future for mankind by building platforms for economic and trade cooperation, cultural exchanges and ecological communication, he said.
Mohammad Mahdi Tinai Tehrani, Assistant Deputy Secretary for International Affairs of the Islamic Party of Iran, said, "Guizhou has opened the door and invited delegations from so many countries here. The Chinese government is spreading civilization, security and peace all over the world."
During the forum, attendees had in-depth discussions on topics such as high-standard opening-up, new development opportunities, quality production, sustainable global development, modernization and other topics.
