On November 25, US president-elect Donald Trump said he would impose an additional tariff of 10 percent on goods imported from China from his first day in office.
Zhou Mi, senior research fellow of the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, said that Trump's pledge to impose tariffs will raise the costs of foreign goods entering the US market, thereby adversely impacting US retailers and consumers.
Zhou expressed concerns that the imposition of tariffs by the US would heighten the risks to economic recovery and would have unfavorable effects not only on the US but also on other countries.
