Tianjin artist paints a relaxed picture
Tianjin residents are well known for their sense of humor and a relaxed way of life. This attitude has been vividly depicted in the ink paintings of Li Jin, who grew up and works in Tianjin.
Li's works are marked with ordinary items found in everyday life, such as vegetables and fruits. In these small things he directs the audience to the essence of life and the rules of society, with an open perspective.
Li Jin: The Way of the Dragon shows his calligraphy and ink paintings from the early 1990s till now. It is being held at West Kowloon Cultural District, in Hong Kong, mounted by PhillipsX.
It provides a glimpse of Li's exploration with ink and brush which has made him a unique talent in the field of contemporary ink art. The hilarious, sometimes whimsical, scenes in his work impress many. He has shown to people novel ways to use the traditional mediums to depict modern life and the emotions of urbanites.
