Wuhan University and China Federation of Internet Societies co-host the 19th United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Lightning Talk

On December 17, the 19th United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Lightning Talk, jointly organized by Wuhan University(WHU) and the China Federation of Internet Societies (CFIS), was successfully convened in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, under the theme of "Internet Governance: Joining Practices and Reciprocal Understanding". Renowned experts from China and Saudi Arabia engaged in in-depth sharing and exchanges of views on crucial topics such as child protection and development, AI governance and assessment, advancing security technologies to promote sustainable development of the Internet ecosystem.

The forum provided a platform for multi-stakeholders to conduct equal dialogues and interactions, spurring all parties to reach a consensus and enhance cooperation within the realm of Internet governance. Over 70 guests from government agencies, social organizations, universities and research institutions, news media, and Internet enterprises participated in the meeting offline.

Lu Wei, vice president of Wuhan University, stated that in the current era, to address the challenges of Internet digital governance, it is imperative for all parties across the globe to collaborate, strengthen international communication and cooperation, and pioneer a viable pathway to jointly share digital dividends. Amid the complex global environment, China has invariably adhered to the concept of a community with a shared future in cyberspace, centering on the principle of cyber sovereignty and equality, and has been actively advocating and practically promoting the sustainable development of the cyberspace ecosystem, thereby continuously injecting novel impetus and innovative initiatives into global governance. As a prestigious high-level research university, Wuhan University, leveraging its profound historical heritage and interdisciplinary strengths, will persistently innovate talent cultivation schemes in the process of globalization, and contribute the wisdom of Wuhan University to the global Internet ecology and the sustainable development of cyberspace.
