The handling of 9,235 suggestions and opinions raised by national lawmakers earlier this year have been completed, according to a report submitted to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislature, for review on Saturday.

The suggestions and opinions were collected from deputies to the 14th NPC when it held its second session in March, Guo Zhenhua, an official from the NPC Standing Committee, said while explaining the report.

"Putting forward such a number of suggestions and opinions have fully reflected the enthusiasm of deputies to participate in the country's governance and decision-making, and also shows the performance of their duties," Guo said.

He added that the advice was sent to 213 relevant departments for further review and handling, and the feedback have all been given to the deputies.

"While keeping in touch with deputies who raised the suggestions to learn more about their concerns, the quality of handling the advice has also been improved," he said.

For example, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment has opened a special hotline for serving deputies, and the Ministry of Water Resources, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine have provided training for those handling the suggestions, according to him.

In addition, he said that some suggestions from the deputies have been accepted by relevant authorities to enrich their regulations and optimize work measures.

For instance, the National Energy Administration has improved the charging facility network system nationwide after reviewing a few deputies' suggestions, he noted, adding that over 95 percent of the country's highway service areas have had new energy vehicle charging equipment.

Furthermore, suggestions and opinions related to healthcare, employment, elderly care, green development and cultural services were also taken as priorities to be handled by the NPC's special committees and the authorities, he said.
