The Xinhua Publishing House on Thursday released a new book titled All about Gold: A concise encyclopedia about the precious metal.
The book covers the historical origins, cultural heritage, economic value, and modern industry chain panorama of gold.
"Gold continues to attract people worldwide, especially Chinese consumers who want to learn more about gold," Wang Yahong, the author of this book, said at the book releasing event.
Gold prices in China experienced a record-breaking year in 2024, making it one of the best-performing assets in China during the period.
Wang delved into the dual value of gold as both an asset and a cultural symbol, as well as its multiple record highs in the market in 2024.
Many Chinese consumers are interested in investment through various forms such as gold jewelry, gold bars, gold coins, and gold ETFs, he said.
Furthermore, he shared some "behind-the-scenes stories" of the gold industry chain, including aspects like mining exploration, smelting technology, and exchange pricing, showcasing the comprehensive process of gold from extraction to trading.
"Through this book, I aim to help readers gain a deeper understanding of the history, culture, economic value, and investment methods of gold," Wang added.
This new book also covers the fluctuation patterns of global gold prices, and the technological applications of gold in aerospace, healthcare and other fields.
