Japan holds New Year youth calligraphy exhibition

Japan is holding the 71st National New Year Calligraphy Exhibition for Youth in Tokyo. Held annually in January, the event aims to nurture the emotional and artistic growth of elementary and junior high school students through the traditional art of calligraphy. This year, 30,606 entries were submitted by students across the country, with 300 works receiving the Special Award. Starting Jan 5, these special award-winning works are on display until Jan 30 at Tokyo’s Meiji Jingu shrine.
