Foreign Minister Wang Yi met on Tuesday with Vietnamese Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu in Beijing during the first China-Vietnam foreign ministries' strategic consultation, calling on making concerted efforts to elevate bilateral ties to a new level.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam, as well as the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges.

Standing at a new historical starting point, China is willing to work with Vietnam to follow the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, strengthen high-level exchanges, deepen strategic mutual trust and expand mutually beneficial cooperation, Wang said.

These moves aim to serve each nation's socialist modernization, and elevate the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance to new heights, he added.

Vu said Vietnam always regards its relationship with China as a top priority and strategic choice.

Vietnam is willing to take the anniversary as an opportunity and leverage roles of various dialogue mechanisms to push for more substantial progress in building a community with a shared future between the two countries, he said.
