China's Spring Festival travel rush, which concluded on Saturday, witnessed over 500 million passenger trips, setting multiple records, according to China State Railway Group, the national railway operator, on Sunday.

The 40-day travel period, which began on Jan 14, is known as the world's largest annual human migration. This year, the rush saw a total of 513 million passenger trips and 415 million metric tons of cargo transported, representing a year-on-year increase of 6.1 percent and 5.4 percent respectively, both reaching new highs during the Spring Festival travel rush.
