The Foreign Ministry expressed opposition on Tuesday to the use of economic coercion, hegemonism and bullying to infringe upon the legitimate rights and interests of other countries.

Mao Ning, spokeswoman for the ministry, made the remarks during a regular news conference when asked whether China was investigating CK Hutchison’s planned sale of its overseas ports after the company agreed to sell its Panama operations.

Regarding the specific inquiry, Mao stated that reporters should refer to the competent authorities.
