China's total installed power generation capacity surged 14.5 percent year-on-year in the first two months of 2024, driven by significant increases in solar and wind power, shown by data from the National Energy Administration (NEA) showed on Thursday.
By the end of February, China's total installed power generation capacity reached 3.4 billion kilowatts, the NEA said in a report. Solar power capacity saw the most dramatic expansion, jumping 42.9 percent year-on-year to 930 million kilowatts. Wind power capacity also experienced robust growth, rising 17.6 percent to 530 million kilowatts, it said.
Investment in power grid infrastructure saw a significant boost, climbing 33.5 percent year-on-year to 43.6 billion yuan ($6.06 billion). Investment in major power generation projects by key power enterprises edged up slightly by 0.2 percent to 75.3 billion yuan.
