Chinese tech company Didi Global Inc said it will revive its food delivery operations in Brazil under the brand 99 Food, leveraging its existing local travel and payment ecosystems to enhance the "one-stop" user experience and expand service offerings.

Didi first entered the Brazilian market in 2018 through its acquisition of local ride-hailing platform 99, providing transportation, financial services and delivery solutions. Over seven years, the company has grown to serve 50 million active users across 3,300 cities and towns in Brazil, supported by a network of approximately 700,000 active drivers and delivery riders.

Notably, Didi's two-wheel ride-hailing service, such as motorcycles, has surpassed 1 billion orders in the past three years alone.

The relaunch of the food delivery service marks the strategic extension of Didi's urban service ecosystem in Brazil.

The move also aligns with Didi's broader global strategy. Its international operations now span 14 markets across Latin America, Asia-Pacific and Africa, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Egypt, Mexico, Argentina, the Dominican Republic, Chile, Ecuador, Panama, Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica and Brazil.
