China expressed readiness on Friday to work with Thailand under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both nations to usher in a new and even more fruitful chapter in the golden jubilee of bilateral ties, delivering greater well-being to both peoples.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks when meeting with Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in Beijing.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Thailand as well as the "Golden Jubilee of China-Thailand Friendship".
He praised Sirindhorn as a cherished friend of the Chinese people and an outstanding envoy for China-Thailand friendship.
With 55 visits to China, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has traveled extensively across the country, personally witnessed the achievements of China's reform and opening-up, and shared vivid stories of Chinese modernization with the Thai people, significantly deepening mutual understanding and affection between the two peoples, Wang said.
China looks forward to the continued special role of the Thai royal family in advancing bilateral relationship, he added.
Sirindhorn affirmed that the Thai royal family highly values its traditional friendship with China. She noted that practical cooperation between the two countries in agriculture, science and technology, and culture has delivered tangible benefits to the Thai people.
Thailand, she said, is ready to take the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations as a new starting point to further strengthen its friendly bond with China.
