Russian investigator says foiled terror plot in Moscow

MOSCOW -- The Russian Investigative Committee said Friday it had prevented a terrorist attack in Moscow and seized explosives planned to be used in a crowded place.

The attack was allegedly prepared on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services, the committee said in a statement, adding that a suspect had been detained.

A criminal case has been opened against the suspect for preparing to commit a terrorist act, it added.
