Daxing district, home to Beijing's second international airport, is expected to see the total output of its industrial sectors reach 100 billion yuan ($14 billion) this year, according to district director Liu Yang.

Located in southern Beijing, Daxing is developing six industrial clusters: the airport economic zone, a biopharmaceutical production base, a digital economy demonstration area, an international hydrogen energy demonstration zone, a China-Japan innovation cooperation zone, and a commercial space industry base.

"These developments mark a major transformation for Daxing, which has shifted from its traditional agricultural roots toward high-tech, innovation-driven growth," Liu said.

Since Beijing Daxing International Airport began operations six years ago, it has handled nearly 200 million passengers and more than 1.5 million flights, cementing its status as a popular international aviation hub.

So far, the airport economic zone in the Daxing section has developed 1.2 million square meters of industrial facilities and attracted 8,400 companies, including 375 foreign-invested enterprises, officials said.
