Sierra Leone hails Chinese investment as 'pivotal' to mining growth

Hadji Dabo, director-general of the National Minerals Agency of Sierra Leone, outlined the significant contributions of Chinese enterprises to Sierra Leone's mining sector, during the 2025 China Mining Conference and Exhibition, underway this week in Tianjin.
The event featured insights from international delegates, including Sierra Leone, emphasizing a partnership that extends beyond mere financial investment.
"Over the past 54 years, since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have supported each other on issues concerning their core interests and major concerns," Dabo said, stressing the long-standing and robust nature of bilateral cooperation.
"The story of China's engagement in Sierra Leone's mining sector is one of long-standing partnership and significant contribution. Chinese enterprises have been pivotal players, demonstrating a strong vote of confidence in our nation's mineral potential," he said.
