Former ACFTU vice-chairwoman under investigation

Zhang Shiping, former vice-chairwoman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, is under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation for suspected serious violations of Party discipline and national laws, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission announced on Tuesday.

Zhang, 71, a native of Beijing, joined the Party in 1973. She previously worked in the general office of the CPC Xicheng district committee. From 1979 to 2008, she held various positions at the All-China Women's Federation, including deputy head of the publicity department, head of the departments for urban and rural work, women's development, and the general office.

Starting in 2003, she served as secretary of the Secretariat of the ACWF and began concurrently holding the position of director of the China National Children's Center in 2005.

In 2008, Zhang transferred to the ACFTU, where she served as vice-chairwoman, secretary of the Secretariat, and member of the Party Leadership Group. In 2011, she also served as vice-chairwoman of the ACWF.

In February 2014, she was appointed deputy director of the Committee on Social and Legal Affairs of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
