Li Damin, formerly deputy mayor of Dalian in Liaoning province, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China and dismissed from public office for severe violations of Party discipline and laws.

The Liaoning Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision announced on Wednesday that, after investigation, Li was found to have violated discipline by accepting gifts, money and tourism arrangements that could have influenced his impartiality in the performance of his duties.

According to the commission, Li violated organizational principles by failing to report personal matters as required and helped others seek benefits in personnel appointments. He engaged in unauthorized business operations, imposed fees on enterprises, damaging the business environment. He crossed legal and disciplinary boundaries by exploiting his position to secure benefits for others in promotions and business operations, illegally accepting a large amount of money in return.

In accordance with relevant Party regulations and laws, the commission decided to expel Li from the CPC and dismiss him from public office.

It said his illicit gains would be confiscated, while details of crimes he is suspected of are to be transferred to procuratorial organs for review with a view to prosecution, along with the assets involved.
