During the New Year celebration event titled "Start New Year with Art" at the 798 Art District in Beijing's Chaoyang district on Dec 31, visitors and local residents took selfies in front of or signed a billboard with messages of "Hi, My Dear Beijing" and "Happy New Year".
Unlike previous events, this year's celebration featured multiple countdown points spread throughout the 798 area, a space transformed from a former industrial zone in Beijing.
These simultaneous events created an interactive spectacle that seamlessly blended digital art with industrial heritage.
For instance, the 100-meter-tall No 6 Chimney was adorned with digital fireworks that illuminated the entire area — captivating visitors and encouraging them to look skyward.
At the same time, mesmerizing digital visual displays were presented against the backdrop of the area's industrial heritage.
Across a 400-square-meter giant screen at one of the plazas, various artistic performances — including displays of intangible cultural heritage — were showcased.
Beyond the visual feast, more than 50 restaurants and shops offering creative art products were open throughout the evening in the district.
