In response to the latest threat by the United States to impose tariff levies on countries regarding Iran, the Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that China "will resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights and interests".
US President Donald Trump said on Monday that any country doing business with Iran will pay a tariff rate of 25 percent on any business conducted with the US, Xinhua reported.
"China's position on the tariff issue is very clear," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning told reporters on Tuesday.
"We have always believed that there are no winners in a tariff war," Mao said. "China will resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights and interests."
