Tech communication to boost regional innovation

The second membership conference and annual meeting of Tianjin Society for Science and Technology Journalism kicked off in Tianjin on January 11. At the event the society’s reviewed progress since its establishment in 2024, including development priorities for the new year, and discussions on science and technology communication and cutting-edge technology promotion.
Liu Yadong, chairman of the society, emphasized that since its founding, the society has made efforts to improve its organizational structure, and steadily advanced key tasks such as sci-tech journalism training, industry surveys and research, laying a solid foundation for Tianjin’s science and technology journalism development. As 2026 marks the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan, he noted the society will uphold science and technology journalism principle, expand business cooperation, enhance service capabilities and strive for new achievements in communication and innovation support.
The meeting adopted the society’s annual work report, which highlighted progress in organizational development and key projects in 2025, including the launch of the home for science and technology journalism workers platform and preparation for professional committees. The frontier science and technology communication special committee was inaugurated, bringing together experts and industry elites to promote tech communication, resource sharing and industry transformation.
The society also released its first Tianjin Society for Science and Technology Journalism Report, sorting out the current status and development trends of local science and technology communication so as to provide reference for relevant work. Participants pledged to treat the conference as a new starting point, pool resources and contribute more toward developing Tianjin into a science and technology innovation hub and fostering a sound scientific culture.
