Kenya's ruling United Democratic Alliance or UDA has announced plans to establish a political leadership school inspired by China's party training framework, aiming to strengthen internal governance and nurture future leaders.
A delegation led by the party's Secretary-General Hassan Omar Hassan currently in China is engaging with political training institutions, including the Zhejiang Provincial Party School, to study best practices in cadre development, grassroots mobilization and governance training to inform the proposed school's structure.
In a statement shared on Facebook during the weekend, the party said the initiative seeks to equip members with leadership skills, policy knowledge and organizational discipline while deepening community engagement across Kenya.
"We are not only focused on winning elections; we are building a world-class UDA Leadership School to train leaders of today and tomorrow," the party stated.
According to party officials, the project forms part of efforts to transform UDA from an election-focused outfit into a permanent governance institution capable of nurturing leaders beyond electoral cycles. Preparations are reportedly at an advanced stage, although no launch date has been announced.
The school is expected to focus on leadership development, ideological orientation and public service skills adapted to Kenya's political environment.
