An international commercial court was established in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, on Wednesday, to help create a law-based business environment in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The platform will be used to resolve international commercial disputes and support the GBA's high-level opening-up, the court authority said.
The court is an international commercial specialized adjudication body established within the Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court, with approval from the Supreme People's Court and the Guangdong Provincial High People's Court.
It has exclusive jurisdiction over foreign-related commercial cases, including the first and second instance cases under the jurisdiction of the Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court, arbitration in judicial review cases, cases confirming foreign-related mediation agreements, cases reviewing applications for the recognition and enforcement of civil and commercial judgments, and rulings from foreign courts.
In the past five years, 29,600 foreign-related and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan-related civil and commercial cases have been concluded at the Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court, spanning across all seven continents.
