Sony Group Corp raised its annual operating profit forecast for fiscal year 2025 on Thursday, following a 22 percent year-on-year increase in third-quarter operating profit.
The Japanese tech giant reported steady performance in the third quarter of the 2025 business year, with sales reaching 3.71 trillion yen ($26.5 billion), a 1 percent year-on-year increase, and operating profit rising 22 percent to 515 billion yen.
Notably, the imaging and sensing solutions division remained robust, with sales up 21 percent year-on-year to 604.3 billion yen, and operating profit increasing by 35 percent.
The company attributed the sales growth to the recovery in the smartphone market, increased demand for larger sensors, and a stronger product lineup.
In addition, the music unit also saw strong performance, with sales rising 13 percent year-on-year to 542.4 billion yen and operating profit rising 9 percent to 106.4 billion yen.
Meanwhile, Sony announced it would revise its full-year operating income forecast upwards to 1.54 trillion yen.
