Foreign Minister Wang Yi hosted the Foreign Ministry's 2026 New Year reception on Thursday, where he said China stands ready to work with all parties to safeguard peace and the rule of law, promote openness and development, and jointly address crises and challenges.
Nearly 500 people attended the event, including foreign ambassadors to China, the heads of international organizations, and representatives from various Chinese government departments.
Wang said the world is seeing growing turbulence, with peace and development facing severe challenges.
History has repeatedly shown that division and confrontation lead nowhere, while solidarity and cooperation are the right choice, he noted.
Wang added that China is willing to work with all progressive forces around the globe to make fresh contributions to building a better world.
Martin Mpana, dean of the foreign diplomatic corps in China and Cameroon's ambassador to China, sent best wishes to the Chinese people for a happy New Year on behalf of the diplomatic corps.
He said countries worldwide are ready to work with China in a spirit of mutual respect and trust, deepen mutual understanding and friendship, expand practical cooperation, achieve greater outcomes in relations with China, jointly uphold international justice, and promote shared prosperity.
