China on Friday called on the United States to resume strategic stability dialogue with Russia after US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he intended to replace the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty with a new treaty, rather than extending it.
China is not aware of relevant reports, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a daily news briefing.
He added that in principle, and from a long-term perspective of maintaining global strategic stability, China called on Washington to discuss follow-up arrangements with Moscow after the expiration of the New START treaty, which is also the shared expectation of the international community.
