As Spring Festival approaches, the film industry is gearing up for its peak season. IMAX China announced today that three major 2026 Chinese New Year tentpoles — Pegasus 3, Blades of the Guardians, and Scare Out — will be nationwide IMAX releases.

Helmed by novelist-turned-director Han Han, Pegasus 3 is the latest installment in the racing franchise. It continues the story of down-and-out racer Zhang Chi, played by actor Shen Teng, who regained his reputation through an underdog victory in the previous films.

Following the strong box-office performance of the last installment during the 2024 holiday season, the new sequel boasts an expanded scale and heightened spectacle. According to the company, it has been specifically designed for the IMAX experience, featuring enhanced picture quality and immersive audio.
