MSC expert explains 'wrecking-ball politics'

This year's 62nd Munich Security Conference report introduced a new concept — "wrecking-ball politics" to describe the major shifts in the international environment Europe is facing. In an interview with China Daily, Cui Hongjian, director of Beijing Foreign Studies University's Center for European Union and Regional Development Studies, said that the concept reflects Europe's perception that the United States has shifted from being a rule-maker and guardian of the Western world to a disruptor.
