OSLO -- The Nordic countries and Canada agreed on Sunday to strengthen cooperation in defence, security, resilience and green economic growth following a summit in the Norwegian capital Oslo.

At the Nordic-Canadian Summit, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store met with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, along with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Icelandic Prime Minister Kristrun Frostadottir.

In a press release, the Norwegian government said the six leaders agreed to further deepen cooperation to safeguard security and create new opportunities for economic growth.

Store said Canada and the Nordic countries are working closely to enhance security in the Arctic and support efforts to strengthen the Allied presence in the region through NATO.

The Norwegian government also said that in a world where technology and international trade are increasingly used as coercive tools, the countries will place high priority on economic security, job creation and green economic growth.
